Attack on London: Hunting the 7/7 Bombers

The Garden for Netflix

Exec Producers: Zac Beattie, Flavia Taylor

Working in Soho, London on the 7th July 2005, I remember in the morning hearing about the bomb going off and worrying that friends and colleagues may have been on the tube at the time. This documentary looks at what happened that day when four British men detonated suicide bombs on London’s transport system during the busy rush hour, killing 52 people and injuring over 700. Just two weeks later, a failed second attack triggered the UK’s largest-ever manhunt and led to the fatal police shooting of an innocent man. What followed was three weeks of national panic, rising paranoia, and a desperate race to stop further attacks.

Told by those who experienced it, this four-part series takes viewers deep inside the investigation that unfolded in the aftermath of the attacks, a period that changed Britain forever. With a blend of powerful testimony, archive footage, and high-tension drama, Attack on London: Hunting the 7/7 Bombers reveals how authorities scrambled to make sense of the chaos and prevent more bloodshed, all while the country reeled in shock.

We’re proud to highlight the work of editors Jennifer Hampson ( Ep 1) and Duncan Hill ( Ep 2) , who brought their expertise to this intense and emotionally charged series. Their sensitive and compelling editing plays a vital role in telling this story with clarity and respect.

Jennifer said “ An incredible team came together to bring this project to life,  We’re profoundly thankful to everyone who courageously shared their experiences and entrusted us with telling this significant chapter of our history.”

Duncan said “Episode 2 was brain achingly difficult. Imagine trying to explain why the bombs went off, jump back in time to show the build-up, then cut to a real-time police investigation — all while clinging desperately to the actual timeline of events like it was the last life raft on the Titanic. It was narrative chaos and timeline Tetris all at once. By the end, I wasn’t sure if I’d edited a documentary or survived a psychological thriller but I’m really pleased with the results.”

London: Hunting the 7/7 Bombers will be available to watch to watch on Netflix from the 1st July.
