Emergency 24/7

Expectation TV for BBC 2

Editor: Badger Cooper

Following the success of Murder 24/7, Expectation TV have produced a medical spin off, 6-part series. With camera crews embedded inside the busy Emergency Department at Southmead Hospital, a Major Trauma Centre in Bristol, the doc follows staff as they look after patients from diagnosis, through to treatment, revealing the everyday pressures as well as the complex teamwork required to keep the A&E department running and achieve the best possible outcomes for all their patients.

Expectation were familiar with Badger’s skills, having worked with him previously in a different genre, and his experience cutting medical documentaries for BBC2 (The Big Hospital Experiment, Hospital, An Hour to Save a Life, etc…) made him an obvious choice for this series.

Badger worked on RX3 & RX5 and commented that “it’s always a tricky privilege working on something like this. You’re being allowed into people’s lives at really difficult moments, and at the same time you’re watching professionals having to do an incredibly demanding job. As an editor, you’re trying to balance all of that — to stay true to what’s happened and respect the people involved, but also make something that’s compelling to watch. That’s a challenge I really enjoy.”

For fans of ER and The Pit, watch the real deal on BBC2 at 9pm, every Tuesday.
