Connor really enjoyed working on this two-part series produced by Shine for Channel 4. Trainspotter Bourgeois travels to the US to experience astronaut-style training as he explores a long-held fascination with space. He experiences intense G-forces in a centrifuge and zero-gravity training, finding the physical and mental endurance required far more challenging than anticipated. Connor edited episode 2 where the training intensifies and Francis experiences isolation training that mirrors the loneliness of the Moon and contemplates whether his desire to go further is really worth it. Connor said  “This was a joy to work on. Director Jonathan Levene understood from the beginning that Francis is such a joyous, unique, infectious personality, and we had to make sure that shined through. So the challenge was to make sure nothing about the film was typical. It’s not typical that a show about the space industry is also an emotional journey and a love story AND funny, so I really think we succeeded”.

The result is warm, thoughtful and unexpectedly moving joyful celebration of curiosity, ambition and awe. Removed from his familiar GoPro-and-platform setup, Francis remains completely himself, the series documents honest reactions to extraordinary experiences, from demanding simulations to encounters with the vast scale of space science.

This will be an interesting watch!
